National Bible Month is backed up by Presidential Proclamation No. 124 by incumbent President Rodrigo Roa Duterte last January 05, 2017 for the Philippine Bible Society's aim to introduce to people the Bibles's transforming power through all means possible.
According to the Philippine Bible Society: "God’s Word has powerful transforming impact on the national life. In world history, as well as in our own, the Holy Bible is regarded as a powerful book containing timeless principles that when heeded and obeyed can change a nation for the better."
Every year, the nation commemorates and celebrates the importance of the Bible in nation building. Churches have come together through parades, motorcades, and rallies proclaiming the yearly themes of the Bible celebration. Sermons and homilies have focused on the Bible’s role in changing the people’s lives during the National Bible Sunday. Streamers and posters called attention to this significant event, as well as Scriptures that are distributed on the streets and other public places.
They even have religious materials displayed on booth in front of municipalities such as like here in the town of Noveleta, Cavite wherein they celebrated the Bible week from January 27 up to 31.
WHAT IS THE BIBLE?
The Bible is the holy scripture of the Christian religion, purporting to tell the history of the Earth from its earliest creation to the spread of Christianity in the first century A.D. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament have undergone significant changes over the centuries, including the the publication of the King James Bible in 1611 and the addition of several books that were discovered later. The Bible has two versions, namely: The Old Testament and the New Testament.

IMPORTANCE OF CELEBRATING TE BIBLE WEEK
“This strengthens the importance of the Bible in molding the character of the Filipinos in their family life and nation building at the start of the year”, the statement says. According to the PBS, the proclamation “upholds biblical principles in dealing with the citizenry and different sectors in society.” “RAISE AWARENESS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BIBLE” Bible-related events such as Bible enthronement, Bible distributions, fun runs, Bible quizzes, and Bible reading called the I-Proclaim, among others, have been lined up across the country by churches, schools, Local Government Units, and Non-Government Organizations. “We encourage churches, schools and organisations to help raise awareness on the importance of the Bible in people’s lives. Let us make our countrymen realize that it is a source of strength and wisdom and is not just applicable during times of trials but as a guiding light all our lives”, PBS General Secretary, Nora G. Lucero, says.
