The country celebrates the month of October of every year as National Children’s Month (NCM) pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 267, series of 1993 that calls for a nationwide celebration of children’s month to promote and protect the physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being of the child as well as to emphasize the importance of the role of the child within the Filipino family and in nation building. This year marks the 22nd NCM celebration spearheaded by the Council for the Welfare of Children since 1993 by virtue of Presidential Decree 603 or the Child and Youth Welfare Code. This year’s theme is “Bata Kasali ka, Ikaw ay Mahalaga”.
