Methods of Carnapping

Carnapping is taking a motor vehicle of another person without a latter consent, by means of violence or force.
It is not a light situation when your vehicle has been carnapped, it is a situation wherein you can loose very important documents along with your car to the extent of life lost; it is a must to report it immediately to the police. Carnapping is a serious crime.

The Department of Justice advisory on preventive measures against carnapping studying different cases about the matter and according to the 2011 comprehensive report carnappers usually employ three methods of carnapping:
     1. Stolen while parked unattended (SWP)
          - when you leave you vehicle some place and when you got back your vehicle/car is gone.

     2. Stolen at gunpoint with intimidation (SAGI)
          - when you are inside your car/vehicle and a gun or any deadly weapon was used to intimidate you and force you to step out of the vehicle; this scenario is very dangerous and may result to life lost.
                    advice: DON'T FIGHT THE CARNAPPER/s (not only they are desperate and are ready to kill. It is wise to secure a comprehensive car insurance; always get a new car or ask for a trade-in of your old vehicle every three (3) years.

     3.Failed to return (FTR)
          - when your girlfriend/ live-in partner don't want to return your vehicle anymore
          - when the vehicle is borrowed and failed to return on the agreed date of return.
          - when the car/ vehicle was rented and has not returned the motor vehicle and the person who rented the car never even make a call or just keep on promising to return the car.
